Learning clouds! This is a great subject to draw!
Used the Legion Stonehenge paper and General’s charcoal.
That is great, Adel!

Thanks for the great lesson and photo. I tried to upload from the Drawing together list page but kept on getting a 404 error message, so clicked on the thumbnail down the bottom and finally got here. I decided to try and draw with charcoal, even though it is my nemesis and I find it extremely hard to not just get a one toned grey mess. I decided I had to stop when I started lifting up the top layer of the paper. Not very happy with my outcome, but am hoping the more I used charcoal the easier it may become.
That is a great photo. This time I used some 11×14 paper, bigger than my other drawings. Just wanted some more space for those big dark clouds. Be careful out there.
Scott-shapes both additive and subtractive-indeed. I enjoyed drawing this swirling image.
Very nice work, Urszula!
Wonderful work, Pia!
Nice! I love the addition of the figure:)

Here is my attempt.
Dear Scott,
unfortunately I missed the last session and watched it the next day. I find it very difficult to draw clouds. Somehow you’re never quite finished. There are always places that could be worked out even better.
Kind regards
Pia (and Doris)
Hi Scott,
What a gorgeous photo of tornado you took. So many abstract shapes! But difficult to draw for a person like me, attached to details. But here it is, my rendition of your tornado, on Strathmore cotton charcoal paper, with laid finish, 11×14. I was attracted more to the abstract shapes, than to values, or portraying the clouds. Thank you for this interesting drawing session. Urszula
Beautiful work here, Brenda!
As much as I don’t like charcoal, I loved doing the tornado! I guess getting to know new materials brings them closer to the heart! Thanks, Scott!
Beautiful work, Pia! Thanks for letting me know that the comments on the “Dancer” page were disabled. It should be working now. This is a great drawing!
Here it is:
Dear Scott,
Because I couldn’t upload the drawing to the dancer, I uploaded it here. Sorry!
My twin sister looks at my sketches with eagle eyes. I am very happy for her severe criticism. Without my twin sister, my dancer would have had a shoe size US 14.5 🙂 Now she has given the okay and I dare to upload my drawing.
I have never drawn with white charcoal before. You can’t draw with white charcoal over graphite pencil, can you?
Kind regards Pia
